Health and Wellness Program

Our evidence-based health and wellness programs and healthy aging workshops empower older adults and caregivers to take charge of their health and wellbeing by learning self-care techniques and ways to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Based on evidence-based research, these workshops provide significant health benefits by helping participants improve their physical strength and balance, prevent falls, manage chronic disease, and adopt healthy eating habits. Other workshops focus on caregiver training and support, end-of-life planning, memory loss and dementia care.

Workshops typically run two hours per week for 6-8 weeks and are held either virtually (over Zoom) or in-person (i.e., supportive housing buildings, senior centers, churches, libraries, or other community settings).

The following workshops teach participants motivational techniques and ways to address frustration, emotional distress, fatigue, pain and social isolation:

  • Matter of Balance
  • My Life My Health
  • Healthy Eating for Successful Living
  • Diabetes Self-Management
  • Savvy Caregiver Training
  • Habilitation Therapy
  • Heart-to-Heart Cafes

In addition to evidence-based programs, we also offer Caregiver Support Groups that are held virtually several times each week. Facilitated by experienced social workers, these support groups offer a safe space for caregivers to make connections, learn coping skills, and share their common experience and personal caregiving journeys.
